JAMMU The Jammu & Kashmir State will participate in a two-day conference beginning January 22 on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, a Central Scheme that aims to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of delivery of welfare services meant for women. The Conference, being held in Haryana, has been organized by the Union Ministry for Women & Child Development.
In a statement issued by the Social Welfare Department, a three-member delegation comprising Mission Director, ICDS, Dr. G. N. Itoo, MD, Womens Development Corporation, Ms. Nahida Soz and Additional Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department, Babu Ram will represent the State Government in the conference, in which various suggestions on empowering the girl child are expected to be discussed at length.
A far more comprehensive scheme for girl child is also expected to be announced during the conference, the statement added.
