SRINAGAR: An Air defence soldier allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope inside a barrack at new airport in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
Official sources said that the soldier, 37-year-old Arjun Kamble (belt no. 15771018Y) of 49 AD Regiment unit hanged himself inside the camp at New Airport.
On seeing him, the colleagues of the trooper immediately rushed him to the nearby army hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, sources said.
It was not immediately known why Naik Arjun took this extreme step, sources said. However, initial investigations revealed that the Naik was having some family problems.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case under 174 CrPc and started further investigations in this regard.
