SRINAGAR: To remember the massacres victims, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for shutdown in Gawkadal in Srinagar, Handwara and Kupwara on 21st, 25th and 27th January respectively.
In a statement issued, Geelani said: During last 25 years more than one lakh Kashmiris were killed by Indian army and the great nations never forget their brave and bold sons who offer their pious lives for the better future of the nation.
India and its agencies are working hard on the project that Kashmiris will forget their Martyrs and didnt mention anywhere the sacrifices of the nation which they have given in their long freedom struggle till date. The policy makers of India want that the new generation of Kashmir should remain unaware about the historic perspective of the Kashmir dispute and the freedom struggle of their nation and they should compromise over the slavery of India so that they can lengthen their illegal occupation here, Geelani alleged.
The pro-freedom leader, who is currently in New Delhi, continued: Keeping in view this situation, our first responsibility is that we should again and again remember these incidents and the brave sons of the soil.
He appealed international human rights organizations to play their role in conducting the impartial investigation into all massacres of Jammu and Kashmir and in punishing the accused personals of government forces who were involved in the war crimes in this region and perform their duty in stopping the further loss of precious human lives.
