POONCH: The army late on Friday foiled another infiltration bid in Balakote sector of Poonch district following which a gunbattle between militants and troops erupted along Line of Control, defence sources said.
They said a group of 20 to 25 militants tried to infiltrate at around 09 pm on Friday at Turkundi forest along LoC. However, when troopers of 6 Rajputna Rifles noticed some movement, they opened fire towards the infiltrators triggering clash between two sides till 5 am Saturday, sources said.
Local sources said the gunfire continued for whole night.
The army sources said head to head intrusion attempts by desperate militants reflect their designs as they want to create trouble and disturb peace.
