SRINAGAR: Financial Commissioner Industries & Commerce Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Ganai visited various industrial establishments today to have an on spot assessment about the functioning of these units and reviewed the progress of implementation of various prestigious projects, particularly being implemented under the centrally sponsored schemes. During the visit to Govt. Silk Factory Rajbagh, it was observed that Silk Factory and Govt. Woollen Mills have been fully re-commissioned in a record period of time and the product range was also found to be decorous in terms of quality and finish.
Mr. Ganai urged that the J&K Industries should effectively liaise with the Directorate of Tourism for creating awareness amongst the tourists visiting in winter about the availability of quality silken and woollen products. He was also informed about the initiatives being taken to showcase the products of Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporations.
Mr. Ganai also visited Shoddy Spinning Plant at Solina, Showroom of Handloom Development Corporation and several directions were issued for further increasing the product sale having sizeable market.
The Financial Commissioner Industries & Commerce also visited the proposed site of International Trade Centre (ITC) Pampore and was briefed about the future plans with regard to commencing the project work. He was informed that the walling of the area is nearing completion and the requisite plans to commence the work have also been finalized which shall be shortly placed before the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) headed by the Chief Secretary.
The Financial Commissioner Industries & Commerce asked the Director Handicraft to fast track the finalization of plans and designs so that this prestigious project which has already been approved under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of ASIDE is completed within the stipulated time.
The Financial Commissioner undertook a comprehensive visit of Industrial Estate Lassipora, Pulwama and interacted with the entrepreneurs to have spot assessment about the problems being faced by them.
It was given out on the occasion that the estate is spread over 7487 kanals of land. Out of 354 units which have been allotted land, 112 units are already in production and 206 units are at various stages of implementation. Approximately 2700 people have been provided with gainful employment by the units that are in production.
It was also informed that the floods have severely damaged a vast portion of a protection bund which needs immediate repair work.
On the occasion, Mr. Ganaie stated that the infrastructure restoration and development work is already projected for assistance in the Relief Package.
The Financial Commissioner gave on spot directions to the officers of Industries & Commerce and SIDCO for looking into the grievances of the entrepreneurs to take all such steps that are required to redress their grievances.
While interacting with the officers of various establishments, the Financial Commissioner Industries & Commerce urged upon them to ensure punctuality in attendance and also work hard in achieving the objective of serving the general public with dedication and sincerity.
