Srinagar: A woman in north Kashmirs Sopore town gave birth to a triplet after a successful surgery on Tuesday, medical officials said.
The officials told GNS that breaking the tradition of referral of such patients, a high risk mother namely Haseena, wife of Muhammad Jamal, resident of Malpapanpora in Sopore, was admitted vide D UMBER 2734 with previous 2 LSCS was operated on 6-1-15 at Mother and Child Hospital in the town and delivered a triplet.The mother and neonates are doing well. The surgery was performed by Dr Rakhshanda Rashid senior gynaecologist and the team of doctors, they said.
It is pertinent to mention that breaking the custom of referral of such patients to tertiary care centers has brought a respite to the patients living in far flung areas and depicts the strong commitment, zeal and enthusiasm of health department to bring a complete and effective health care to the doorstep of people, the officials added.
It is unique surgery. The patient had already received two anesthesia and it was third. But, we managed to do it successfully, the Block Medical Officer, Sopore, Dr Syed Masood, told GNS over phone. He added that it was first of its kind surgery in Sopore. (GNS)
