SRINAGAR: Amid tight police security, unidentified burglars last night made an unsuccessful attempt to loot branch of J&K Bank located in Nehalpora Pattan in Baramulla district.
Police sources said that some unidentified persons tried to break into the Bank branch during the dead of the night however, they could not break the lockers and left the Bank without taking away any cash.
The Branch Manager said that the burglars had entered into the bank from the backside. They seemed to have used axes and hammers to smash the lockers but failed in their attempt to loot the cash and returned empty handed, he said.
A police along with an FSL team reached to the spot and after assessing the situation initiated investigation.
We have registered an FIR vide number 5/2014 under section 379, 511 of RPC in this regard and investigation has been taken up to nab the burglars, SHO Pattan Muhammad Saleem said.
The said branch remained closed till afternoon and was opened up for customers only after the completion of all formalities. (CNS)
