POONCH: At least 11 persons, including a six month old baby, were injured when a private vehicle skidded off in Mendhar area of Poonch district, official said.
Officials said that a sumo (JK02H 1415) was coming from Salwa to Mendhar town and when it reached Behra, it skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 am.
In the accident, eleven people including seven females were injured while one person namely Waseem Rashid sustained critical injuries. The injured were rushed to hospital by police and army, the official said.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Sadaqat Qureshi, the vehicle wasnt meant for serving passengers. He told GNS the driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot and is absconding.
Police have registered a case in this regard, the official added.
