Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir Tuesday said that celebrating Jashne chilai kalan at a time when devastating flood has left thousands homeless is shameful.
In a statement, president DAK, Dr Nisar-ul-Hasan said that it is painful that organizers and sponsors of the event are holding cultural programmes and musical evenings when Kashmir is mourning the damage caused by horrific floods.
People affected by floods are spending their nights under open sky in this chill and government functionaries are cherishing their miseries by singing and dancing, he said adding that Government functionaries are spending public money lavishly on cultural shows to project normalcy in Kashmir and enjoy the sufferings of flood victims.
Our heads bow in shame to see youth of the valley participating in these immoral and indecent shows. These events are organized to erode age old social and moral ethos in our society in a well planned conspiracy. The participation of Kashmiris in these indecent shows has hurt the emotions and sentiments of flood ravaged families who are craving for rehabilitation, DAK said adding that Kashmiris should boycott these indecent events and realize that participating in these shows is disregard and disrespect to social and moral traditions of our society.
