JAMMU: Controversial right-wing outfit Sri Ram Sena today demanded the creation of a “separate Jammu state” while alleging discrimination against the area in the hands of Kashmir-based leaders.
“We are not in favor of the trifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, but the circumstances created by the Kashmiri leaders have compelled us to raise such a demand,” Rajiv Mahajan, state chief of Shri Ram Sena, said in a statement here.
He alleged that Jammu region faced discrimination under the leadership of Kashmir-based leaders, who ignore the region.
“In the past six decades, Jammu region has faced all types of discrimination forcing the people of Jammu to demand for a separate Jammu state,” he said.
The state where the assembly elections were held recently, gave a fractured mandate. PDP emerged as the single largest party in the results announced on December 23 while BJP was a close second with 25 seats.
Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) won 15 seats followed by Congress, which bagged 12 seats.
