Kulgam: Kulgam town Monday observed a shutdown against the alleged murder of a woman. Most of the shops remained closed while transport was off the roads.
The locals of Akhran Nowpora hamlet staged a protest in Kulgam town demanding immediate arrest of the accused. They alleged that murders are roaming free due to inaction of police against them.
My sister was found in a pool of blood a fortnight ago. She bore torture marks on her head and succumbed later on in hospital. She was married and the mother of one year old child, said Farooq Ahmed to CNS adding that police is still clueless about the murderers.
The protestors blocked the traffic and staged a massive protest. The top police officials assured them that culprits will be arrested. SP Kulgam, Mumtaz Ahmed told CNS that it is a blind murder case while police has constituted a special investigating team to crack the case. We are investigating the case and hopefully we will crack it in coming days, he said. (CNS)
