SRINAGAR: With deadlock persisting over government formation for the third consecutive day after poll results were announced, speculation was rife on Friday that the BJP has offered National Conference four cabinet berths in lieu of support for its first ever government in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Partys newly elected MLAs favour an alliance with the NC.
Senior BJP leaders also said the BJP has reached out to the NC, and is ready to offer it four cabinet berths if it agrees to an alliance. These leaders added that the NC would also be asked to join the central government and given support for a Rajya Sabha seat.
Party General Secretary, Ram Madhav Friday admitted that the BJP was in touch with both National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party. Talking to reporters outside Srinagar International Airport, Ram Madhav said that the BJP was hopeful that it will form new government in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that both National Conference and PDP leaders have met BJP leadership and deliberations were going on.
Ram Madhav however added that no party has put forth any conditions before them. The talks were conducted in cordial atmosphere to find a solution to the deadlock, he said.
He according said that BJP wants the new government in the state formed soon.
