SRINAGAR: Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Engineer Rashid on Friday offered his unconditional support to National Conference Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alliance for formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir and ruled out any support to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a news conference here, the independent MLA from Langate, said that NC and PDP should join hands for the betterment of Kashmir and for safeguarding the interests of people of the region.
He added that it seems that both parties dont want to join hands as both the parties cant pursue their Self-Rule and Autonomy agenda. NC talks about Autonomy while PDP pursues Self-Rule.
Both parties have chance to sit together and devise a better agenda but these parties cant join as they know they will get exposed before the public as both the parties are scared of New Delhi and Modi, Rashid claimed.
While ruling out any support to BJP led government Engineer Rashid made it clear that in backdrop of anti-Kashmir stand of BJP we cannot afford to have a BJP led government in the state, he said.
“Any party which will support BJP to form government will get eradicated from the political map of Jammu and Kashmir and that party will truly face the wrath of public in Kashmir.”
Engineer Rashid said that NC, PDP should remember that it is the crucial juncture in the political history of Kashmir and their every step would be keenly watched and analyzed and for restoring honour of people of Kashmir.
MLA said if the PDP and National Conference were sincere in fulfilling their agenda of self rule and autonomy which the two parties have been promising for a long time now, they should come together.
“Why does not PDP accept the offer of support made by Omar Abdullah? It is for Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to explain. If they still fall short of numbers, I will also support them,” the MLA said.
Rashid said he will offer unconditional support to NC and PDP if they form government. He, however added that he will also support PDP if it forms the government with the support of Congress party. My support to Congress-PDP government would be based on certain conditions like the release of political prisoners, unconditional dialogue with militants, cordial relations with Pakistan and so on, he said.
Responding to a question, he said that he is in touch with Hakim Yasin and Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami and they all have decided to support to Kashmir centric government that will mitigate the sufferings of the people.
He said that it is historical fact that BJP pursues hidden agenda and it not only wants to abrogate Article 370 but also wants to grant state subject rights to Hindu refugees of Pakistan administered Kashmir.
