Srinagar: With the party president Omar Abdullahs refusal to support Bharatiya Janta Party for the formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP according to party sources is trying to make contact with the Dr Farooq Abdullah for his partys support in the formation of BJP-NC government.
According to sources, the Bharatiya Janta Party who has won 25 seats, three less than the PDP, has made it clear that it will explore all the options for forming the government.
Sources in the BJP said that the BJPs top brass was trying to contact Dr Farooq Abdullah for his partys support for the formation of government. All options are open. The option of forming a BJP government is open. We are trying to contact Dr Farooq Abdulah for his word about his partys support, sources said.
Sources said that the party is more inclined to an alliance with the National Conference than the PDP, since the NC will not be in a position to stake claim to the chief minister’s post as a junior partner.
A party or alliance needs 44 seats in the 87-member J&K assembly to form government.
In any scenario about the formation of government by the two major parties PDP and BJP, they have to join hands, with Independent candidates. The independent candidates are seven, of which two Independents support the National Conference.KNS
