SRINAGAR: Cold wave intensified its grip across the Kashmir division, including Ladakh region, as the minimum temperature fell by a couple of degrees.
Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius, down by 1.5 degrees than the previous night, a MeT official said here.
Kargil in Ladakh region was the coldest place in the Kashmir division as the mercury plummeted by nearly five degrees to settle at a low of minus 11 degrees last night.
The town had yesterday recorded a minimum of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius.
Near by Leh town fared slightly better at minus 10 degrees, a drop of nearly one degree.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir recored minus 5.2 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town witnessed freezing cold as the minimum temperature settled at minus 4.4 degrees C, while Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south of the Valley recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius and minus 2.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
The MeT department has predicted that the weather is expected to remain dry and cold over the next 24 hours.
