Srinagar: Over 15,000 people, both Kashmiris and non-Kashmiris attended Narendra Modis rally in SK Cricket Stadium on Monday. Hundreds of supporters had come from outside Kashmir to attend the rally.
A BJP leader told CNS that every BJP candidate contributed to crowd. All the candidates were instructed to ferry crowd in the vehicles while the party bore all the expenses in this regard, he said.
Party insiders said that maximum vehicles to ferry crowd were arranged by party candidate for Devsar Constituency Fayaz Ahmed Bhat who also runs a private NGO. Around 300 vehicles came from Devsar, followed by Shopian (200), Home Shali Bugh (150), Langete (150), Kupwara (110), Handwara (95), Noorabad, Uri and Sangrama (30 each) while 10 vehicles from restive Sopore town also ferried crowed for Modis rally.
Reports said that several trainloads of supporters were brought from Banihal, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, Reasi, and other parts of Jammu Division to attend Modis rally.
Supporters of BJP from outside state were also present in the rally. An ardent supporter from Indore told CNS that he covered long distance to reach here just to listen to Modi Ji. It was good to see people of Kashmir supporting Modi Ji. I have captured the moments in my camera to cherish these all my life. I am going to upload these photographs on social networking sites which would send a good message about people of Kashmir, Gopal Krishan said.
BJP media incharge said that the party managed to mobilise crowd for the rally from all the 8 Assembly segments of Srinagar city. Majority of them were from Hazratbal Constituency, he said adding that BJP has become a force to reckon with in Kashmir.
I cant believe people in Kashmir attending a BJP rally in such a number. This rally is certainly going to give a boost to the image of the party in Kashmir, another BJP leader said.
However, not all the people present in the rally were BJP supporters. I am not a BJP supporter but I have good relations with one of the candidates of the party and thus I obliged to his request and brought all my friends here, said Nisar Ahmed from Noorabad.
An 18 year old youth from Harud Malapora Beerwah Budgam, Sameer Ahmed Lone said that he is going to cast his vote in favour of BJP on December 9 as according to him Modi really wants development of Kashmir.
Muhammad Ashraf Mir (35), a resident of Saidpora Shopian, who was wearing Modi mask at the venue said that Modis speech suit to Kashmiri people. Modi speaks from heart and I am hopeful that Kashmir will progress under BJP rule. We have given our votes to National Conference every time and now there is time to give BJP a chance which is keen to put a balm on our wounds, he said.
Rafiq Ahmed from Makdhoom Sahab area of Srinagar city and Muhammad Amin from restive Sopore town also agreed that people of Kashmir should give BJP a chance. This party will eradicate corruption in Kashmir and will provide employment. We people have suffered badly from past sixty years and now its time to change our destiny, they said.
I am a poor fellow and I want such a government in the State that listens to us. I came from Kund area of Qazigund to attend the rally and I am sure Modi will change the fortunes of Kashmiri people, said Ghulam Nabi Parrey.
Sajad Rather from Shalimar Srinagar told CNS that BJP is the best organization and he is confident that it will form next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mushtaq Ahmed Sheera from Habakadal said that nobody forced him to attend the rally. I came here as I wanted to listen the speech of Narendra Modi. I hope that Modi will develop Kashmir on modern lines, he said.
A man who was struggling to cross security check point near Abdullah Bridge and identified himself as only common Kashmiri said:Kashmiri people are multifaceted who even dont know what they are doing and where are they going. (CNS)
