Sopore: A day before elections, mysterious posters attributed to the militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) surfaced in various parts of Sopore town on Monday. The posters warned people to not participate in any election process and boycott the polls completely.
The posters were sighted at different places of Sopore town including Model Town, Shah Dargah and outside the Degree College and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore, a designated polling booth for December 9 elections.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that the coloured computerized posters were pasted on the shutters, walls and electric polls.
Those who would come to vote would have to bear the consequences, read the posters.
Meanwhile, a senior police official said there were only few posters, which are being investigated.
There is nothing to panic as many times we have witnessed such posters, which are a mischief from some anti-social elements, the police official said. The security forces were capable of tackling threat from militants, he added.
Sopore is slated for polls on December 9 (Tuesday).
