Srinagar: The Crime Branch has registered a case against three persons for cheating a number of people by offering them government jobs in lieu of huge money and for fraudulently preparing fictitious and forged interview call letters thereby duping them of their hard earned money to the tune of `12.70 lakhs.
Charges were filed against one Rattan Lal and his two sons under FIR No. 24/2014 under sections 420,465,467,468,471,120-B RPC.
A senior Crime Branch official said that a complaint was received in Crime Branch, Jammu wherein the complainants Sunny Bansotra and others had alleged that accused Rattan Lal and his two sons Rakesh Kumar and Narinder Kumar allured and promised government jobs for them as Clerks and Gardeners in Golf Course 162 Infantry Brigade Miran Sahib, Jammu and in turn demanded/accepted huge amount of money amounting to `12.70 Lakhs.
The accused persons after obtaining the demanded amount provided interview call letters purportedly issued by the Commandant and Golf Secretary but when the complainants appeared for the interview before the Army it came to fore that no such interview call letters were issued by the Army as no such posts were available and that the call letters provided by the accused persons were fake, fictitious and fabricated having forged signatures and stamps etc, the official said.
On receipt of the said complaint, an enquiry was initiated in Crime Branch, Jammu and during the course of enquiry, it was found that on the basis of a false assurance given by the accused Rattan Lal, who introduced himself as a tailor working at the main gate of Golf Course and having close acquaintance with the Army Officers of 162 Infantry Brigade and also because his two sons were serving in the Army, the complainants paid an amount of `12.70 Lakh for securing the jobs and in turn received interview letters from the accused persons, however, when they appeared for the interview they were told by the Army that no such vacancy was available with them, he said, adding: The accused had in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy cheated the complainants and had fraudulently prepared fake, fictitious and forged interview call letters thereby duping the complainants of their hard earned money to the tune of `12.70 Lacs.
