SRINAGAR: Army on Wednesday shifted its 53 Rashtriya Rifle Company whose personnel killed two youths and wounded as many at Chattergam in Budgam district Monday afternoon.
The company has been replaced by 35 RR and the action comes minutes after inquiry officer recorded the statement of two survivors at Badamibagh Army Hospital here, local news gathering agency GNS quoting official sources said.
In their statement, the survivorsShakir Ahmad Bhat and Zahid Ayoub Naqashare learnt to have disclosed that the personnel fired upon them despite their cries that we are students.
Besides, they said, the enquiry officer, a Deputy Commander, has also questioned 16 soldiers of 53 RR alleged to be involved in the incident.
In swift action, all the 16 soldiers were moved to the location of inquiry on Monday evening itself in order to complete the investigation at the earliest, they said.
Their statements are being recorded and the process is likely to be completed by tomorrow (Thursday), they said. .
Pertinently, the GOC Chinar Corps has assured that justice will be done in the case.
