SRINAGAR Jammu Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party Chairman Hashim Qureshi has said that he has decided to file a legal suit against RK Yadav, a former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer who in his book Mission R&AW in chapter 8 captioned Liberation of Bangladesh at Page 227 has leveled certain baseless allegation against him.
In his book, the former Indian intelligence official has made some unfounded statement claiming that the Ganga (plane) hijacking on January 30, 1971 was planned by R&AW and Indias Border Security Force, Quereshi said. Dismissing the content regarding Ganga hijacking, he issued a legal notice to Yadav through his counsel Riyaz Ahmed Jan.
In the legal notice, Yadav has been advised to publish denial to his comments in leading newspapers failing which a defamation suit for five crore rupees would be filed against him. Pertinently, a case related to the hijacking of the Ganga plane is still pending in the District Sessions Court in Srinagar under the Enemy Ordinance (3) Act from the last 10 years.
