Srinagar: Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar Wednesday said that flood hit people of Kashmir should not expect any relief and respite from the Prime Minister of India as according to Aiyar, being the Muslim dominated area, Modi doesnt like people of Kashmir and he has no sympathy for them.
Talking to Srinagar based news agency CNS, Aiyar said that Modi has sympathy for the people of other states of India but cares a fig for the people of Kashmir just because they are Muslims. Floods wreak havoc in Kashmir and yet the Government of India is showing no seriousness in approving the memorandum of Jammu and Kashmir government. It is an open truth that Modi doesnt want help the people of Kashmir, he said.
Taking a dig on Prime Minister Narendara Modi for ignoring flood victims of Kashmir, Aiyar said that Modi mislead people of Kashmir by claiming that he will spend Diwali with the flood victims of Kashmir. His Kashmir visit was a formality. His real motive was to visit Siachen to encourage soldiers there. There is nothing bad if he spent time in Siachen, but he should not have mislead the people of Kashmir. He spent very little time in Srinagar and left for New Delhi before dusk, he said.
Mani Shankar Aiyar told CNS that flood victims in Kashmir are dying while traders have lost all hopes and yet the Central Government is not ready to budge and offer some respite to these people. We make tall claims that Kashmir is an integral part of India and yet when it comes to helping and redressing the problems of people of Kashmir, the Central Government fails to deliver, he said adding that Modi never practises what he says.
Aiyar further said that Modi is the product of RSS and it is the history of RSS to shun and hate Muslims. It is unfortunate that India is being led by the one who pursues communal agenda and discriminate people on the basis of religion, he said.
He said that if any other Indian state would have faced such a natural disaster, Modi would have helped them readily and whole-heartedly. Kashmir is an exception and here Modi is not ready to open his heart, he said.
