CHENNAI: Vennila in Tamil means a brilliant white moon. When 21 year old Vennila the daughter of Chennaya, whom he had presumed to have died after she went missing a few months ago returned one fine day, both her parents nearly went into shock. They were shocked because they had just cremated the body of a young lady, they thought, was Vennila. Her father had filed a police complaint after the young woman disappeared without trace and when the police who spotted an unclaimed body, showed it to her parents, they “identified” it as that of their “daughter Vennila. The body was then cremated after performing last rites.
But when Vennila walked through the door on Monday, 27 October, to announce she was alive and well, and had simply left home disgruntled with the groom her parents had picked for her, the parents were both relieved and worried. Relieved to be reunited with their daughter, and worried about whose body it was, they had cremated.
Press Trust of India reports that Alangudy police inspector A Panneerselvam said that the woman was produced before a court and later sent with her parents.”A probe is on to identify the body that was wrongly presumed to be that of Vennila by her parents” he said.
