Srinagar: Rs 89 crores have so far been disbursed as interim relief amongst the flood affected families whose houses were totally collapsed in the devastating floods. This information was given to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here on Monday in a high level meeting he chaired here to receive the appraisal of follow-up actions on the decisions taken to fast track the relief and rehabilitation process.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir while giving brief on the subject said that the process of distributing interim relief to the affected families is on full swing. It was stated that 2849 families of Srinagar district who lost their houses totally in the floods have been distributed interim relief. It was stated that about 7000 such families have so far been provided this relief in the Valley.
The meeting was informed that 99 percent power supply has been restored and systems have been made functional. However, it was mentioned that faults may occur in the supply sometimes due to ongoing repairs. It was stated that out of 228 sub-stations of 66-33/11-6.6 KV, as many as, 226 have been restored in the Valley while as all the 257 such stations in Jammu are functional.
It was further stated that out of the total of 4686 kilometres of 33 KV lines, as many as, 4665 kilometres have been restored completely while 31493 kilometres of 11 KV lines have been restored out of the total of 31522 kilometres. The meeting was told that out of the total number of 46946 distribution transformers46753 have been made functional.
The meeting was informed that over 1560 tones of garbage and debris has been removed from the Srinagar city during the last day and the total quantity of garbage, muck and rubble removed from the city so far accounts for about 50000 tones.
Receiving brief on the procurement of prefabricated shelters, the Chief Minister was informed that two organizations in this field have been contacted and the arrangements will be finalized shortly.
The meeting was attended by various Ministers, the Chief Secretary, the Director General Police, Principal Secretaries, Commissioner Secretaries, other Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the Departments and senior officers.
