SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 20 Acting upon specific inputs that flood hit Food Commodities are being offered for sale to gullible consumers, the sleuths of Drug and Food Control Organization, under the instructions of Commissioner Food Safety, carried out raids in various areas in district Pulwama, Bandipora and Anantnag.
During the drive the regulatory staff destroyed / confiscated huge quantities of cereals, edible oil , raw spices , fruits & vegetables, coconuts, junk foods, juices, beverages and iodised salt worth over Rs. 24 Lakhs which includes whole turmeric 18000 kg, Red Chilli whole 6750 kg, flour 800 bags, tata salt 800 bags, cereals 80 bags, maida 100 bags, atta 100 bags, BMC spices 400 packets.
The traders were found in the process of pumping such commodities to the remote areas of various districts putting them for sale to innocent public.
The Commissioner of Food Safety has made an appeal to general public to observe packaging conditions at the time of food article purchase and ensure that the impressions of flood are not borne by such articles of food.
In case of any genuine complaint the same should be brought to the notice of concerned district administration for its lawful cognizance.
