Srinagar: The +2 contractual lecturers Monday accused the state government of turning blind eye towards their plight as they have been working on meager wages since last eight years.
They also said that the government since years has not framed any comprehensive policy about them and everyday they pass remains gripped with uncertainty and chaos.
Talking to KNS, the aggrieved lecturers stressed that only in the Department of Education such apathy is witnessed by the qualified youth wherein they are being provided monthly wages of Rs 7,000. These wages were fixed in 2007 and since then as the benefits of 6th pay commission were accorded to the employees, not even a single penny was enhanced in our favor, the aggrieved lecturers told KNS.
They said that despite, several requests put forth by them to the government for the formation of a comprehensive policy of their appointments, no action on ground was taken so far. They added that every year, they have to apply for the same post again with no assurance of the continual in the job. Whenever, any transfer or permanent appointment is made, the contractual is discontinued sans any reason that too in a mid-session.
The contractual lecturers stressed that the government must frame a policy so that they could look forward for new hope. They also stated that government should introduce like that of the ReT policy so that after five or more years, the services of the contractual lecturers are taken into account. (KNS)
