SRINAGAR: As the unemployment figures are increasing in Kashmir by the day at an alarming pace, highly qualified youth here hide their degrees and present themselves as matriculates to apply for Class-IV posts.
The officials in Civil Secretariat were surprised to see the marks percentage and qualification of the applicants for the post of Class-IV advertised earlier by General Administration Department (GAD).
Against 148 vacant posts, the GAD received 17000 applications which included number of Ph D and M Phil scholars and PG degree holders. As the minimum and maximum qualification for the posts were declared as Matriculation and 10+2 respectively, hundreds of applications were rejected as the aspirants were in possession of the higher qualifications.
Fearing that their forms might also be rejected, sources said, some candidates started hiding their higher qualifications and declared themselves as matriculates. But the GAD official could make it soon. You cannot expect from a person to be of the less qualification who has secured more than 90 percent in the matriculation. We really feel sorry for them they really dont deserve this post of a Class-IV employee, a senior official told KNS, adding that the officials were in a fix that how could such promising youth work as Class- IV employees.
Later, interestingly, the cut-off percentage for the post was 88 percent in the matriculation with the entire office of the GAD stating that orderly posts for the toppers is disappointing. (KNS)
