PULWAMA: A Muslim boy and a Sikh girl in love consumed poison Thursday in Saidpora hamlet of South Kashmirs Pulwama district after the girl’s family disapproved of her relationship.
A police official said that both were battling for their lives in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura.
Police said that Ritu Kour, 21, and Shabir Ahmed, 22, (names changed) were reportedly in a relationship for quite some time and both, according to residents, wanted to enter into wedlock. On Thursday, when the newly wedded couple returned to Saidpora Pulwama, the girl secretly met her admirer and both reportedly consumed some poisonous substance, the police said adding that both were shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for treatment.
Doctors described the condition of both as critical.
We have registered a case vide FIR number 243/2014 under section 366 of RPC and investigation is going on, police said.
