New Delhi: The long-standing demand for a CBI probe into the Sunanda Pushkars death case once again gained momentum on Friday with the latest autopsy report revealing that Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s Sopore born wife had died due to poisoning.
We already knew it wasn’t a natural death, it was all planned and we had been asking for CBI’s probe. We want justice. We want CBI probe, Sunandas cousin Ashok Kumar told a news agency.
The latest forensic report, prepared by three doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and submitted to the SHO of Sarojini Nagar police station on September 30, claimed that Pushkar died of poisoning.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy said that there are many indications that prove the Delhi Police is under pressure and therefore we dont have any option but to order a CBI probe.
Earlier he had written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh requesting him for an SIT investigation headed by the CBI into the death of Pushkar.
Pushkar, 52, married Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in 2010.
She was embroiled in a spat with Pakistan-based journalist, Mehr Tarar, whom she accused of stalking her husband few days before she was found dead in a mysterious condition in her room at a five-star hotel in south Delhi on January 17.
