SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Malik Malik Friday demanded the interim bail to the Kashmir prisoners whose families were hit due to devastating floods.
Denying them bail or parole is actually exposes the inhuman and uncivilized behavior of rulers, Malik said while talking to victims of floods at Nawab Bazaar and Guzarbal Noor Bagh.
Malik also visited Abi Guzar and fair deal market and expressed solidarity with the victims and distributed relief.
He said that floods have created a human tragedy and no one has been spared in Kashmir. “It has devastated the lives of millions and it has also ruined the lives of thousands who are languishing in various jails,” he said.
Malik said that as a human and civilized gesture, these inmates should have been released, bailed out or given parole but instead of this even their applications for interim bail and parole are not being entertained by the rulers and authorities.
He said that hundreds of inmates have so far applied for interim bails and paroles but in many cases police are playing delaying tactics, or giving negative reports to deny those bails and paroles. “Many who are serving life imprisonment and whose homes have been devastated by floods are also passing through the same ordeal,” he said.
Malik said that courts are also closed or non functional and at many places authorities are making excuses that all relevant records have been destroyed. “Even those who have been convicted and have served years in jails are being denied parole.”
Malik while condemning the behavior of rulers regarding Kashmir prisoners said that in these times of grief and sorrow this behavior actually exposes the ill mindset of these rulers.
