Srinagar: The state government has constituted 18 teams, comprising of revenue officials for the damage assessment in Srinagar city while as ex- gratia relief amount of rupees 22.5 lakhs has been sanctioned to the kin of 15 people who died due to devastating floods.
The divisional commissioner Kashmir Rohit Kansal said that the damage assessment of the structures in Srinagar city has already started and various teams have been constituted to complete the process. We have constituted 18 teams who have been asked to submit their assessment report before the end of this week, Kansal said.
He said that once the assessment reports reach the government, the compensation will be accordingly sanctioned and disbursed to the flood hit victims.
The Divisional commissioner Kashmir told KNS that the assessment of the damages in various districts of south Kashmir is almost complete and the government has already sanctioned 87.75 lakhs to the 117 flood affectees in Anantnag whose structures got damaged due to floods. Similarly, Kansal said that in Pulwama, rupees 36 lakhs has been sanctioned for the 52 structures damaged due to floods. He said that in Kulgam, 2.82 lakhs has been sanctioned for the Tehsil Yaripora while as in Ganderbal rupees 2.37 lakhs has been sanctioned for the flood victims who lost their structures. While giving the details about dewatering of the areas that are still inundated, Kansal said that 200 pumps including big and small have been installed at various places for the dewatering purposes. We have received 10 more dewatering pumps from Haryana, Kansal said.
He said that Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is clearing the garbage against its routine capacity on war footing basis and corporation will clear the areas that are still suffering from the water logging once the dewatering in these areas is complete. (KNS)
