NEW DELHI : The Mahindra & Mahindra Group and Samsung Electronics have donated Rs two crore and Rs three crore respectively to the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. With this, the corporate sector has come in to contribute for the flood relief in J&K. As per reports various IT companies from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi are sending contributions to the flood victims of Kashmir. Bangalore based, Zenataur Creative Systems has send its team of relief workers to Kashmir with some boats and relief supplies.
Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed for generous donations to the PMNRF to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir in this hour of crisis. Our fellow countrymen in Jammu and Kashmir need our help at this critical hour to tide over the calamity and to rebuild their lives, the Prime Minister said. He said the Centre was extending full cooperation to the J&K Government in rescue, relief and rehabilitation besides giving direct assistance to the affected people. I request all fellow countrymen to stand shoulder-to- shoulder with our distressed brothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir and be part of the national effort to support them in this hour of crisis. I appeal to all citizens to donate generously to the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund, he said.
The Payment may be made by cheque/draft/cash in the name of Prime Ministers National Relief Fund and sent to the Prime Ministers Office, South Block, New Delhi-110011. As per directions on the subject the nationalized banks will not charge any commission on preparation of drafts favouring the PMNRF.
Contributions to the PMNRF have been notified for 100 per cent deduction from taxable income under Section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act.
All officers and staff of the Prime Ministers Office yesterday announced that they were contributing one days salary to the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund as a gesture of solidarity with the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. (AGENCIES)
