SRINAGAR: In a fatal road accident, three army personnel including a Major were killed and four others injured when an armoured vehicle carrying the soldiers of 41 RR met an accident near Sarkuli Kalaroos forest area of frontier district Kupwara.
Police sources said that an army vehicle (ALS 0013127384E) was on its way to Kalaroos forest area, where an operation against militants is on from past week, it fell in deep gorge. They said the driver lost control over the vehicles and it skidded off the road and fell in 300 ft deep gorge near Sarkuli.
Police said that the three soldiers died on the spot while four others were shifted to military hospital Drugmulla in critical condition.
Police identified the deceased as Major Inderjit Singh, Naik Pushpinder Singh both residents of Punjab and Sepoy R.Ranjit of Tamil Nadu.
We have registered an FIR vide number 219/2014 under section 279,337,304A of RPC and investigation is going on, Station House Officer Kupwara said.
Confirming the death of three army soldiers, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Khawaja Munir Ahmed Khan said that a team of doctors conducted the postmortem of three soldiers who had injury marks on their bodies.
