Srinagar: The government has stated that since the year 2010, 306 drugs in Jammu and Kashmir were found sub-standard while as 397 were found not of the standard quality and 91 have been found misbranded.
According to the details provided by the Drug Controller of the state informed that since the year 2010, 12534 number of samples were collected so far and that prosecution against 175 drug suppliers has been launched.
The details informed that during the year 2010-2011, 1415 drug samples were collected and 28 were found of not having the standard quality and seven misbranded. Also out of the samples collected, 21 were found sub standard and prosecution against 12 drug suppliers was launched during the year.
In 2011-12, 2158 drug samples were collected and 119 were found of not having the standard quality and 46 misbranded. Also out of the samples collected, 73 were found sub standard and prosecution against 49 drug suppliers was launched during the year.
During the year 2012-13, 2365 drug samples were collected and 87 were found of not having the standard quality and 24 misbranded. Also out of the samples collected, 63 were found sub standard and prosecution against 52 drug suppliers was launched during the year.
In the year 2013-14, 4874 drug samples were collected and 151 were found of not having the standard quality and 13 misbranded. Also out of the samples collected, 138 were found sub standard and prosecution against 62 drug suppliers was launched during the year. Meanwhile, the drug department has stated that for the ongoing year, 1722 drug samples have so far been collected and the investigations into the same are going on.
