SRINAGAR: The statement made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat Saturday sparked protest from Peoples Democratic Party legislators and subsequent condemnation from the Speaker Mubarak Gul in Legislative Assembly.
Shortly after the commencement of proceedings in Legislative Assembly, opposition PDP members registered their protest against the remarks made by RSS chief that India is the county of Hindus.
PDP legislator Peerzada Mansor while condemning the remarks of the RSS chief said that Kashmir is a Muslim dominated area and here the people like Mohan Baghwat and others cant enforce their will on others. Mansoor was supported by his party members who all stood up from the benches and raised slogans against RSS chief. PDP members amid raising slogans like jis Kashmir ko khoon say seencha, wo Kashmir hamara hai,RSS hi hi while they were confronted by BJP members who came into well by reciting the poem of Iqbal Hindi hai hum watan hai Hindustan hamara.
PDP legislator Nizam-u-Din described the described the statement as unfortunate which has the potential of dividing people and strengthening enemies of the country.
Speaker Mubarak Gul after convincing the BJP members who took their seats said that India is for every as in its freedom struggle people from all religions laid their lives.
Speaker said that India is a secular country and it belongs to the members every faith or ideology. He said people of all sections be it Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Parsis, have given sacrifices for the country and these statements create wedge between the communities.
