SRINAGAR: The Government on Saturday stated that the final publication of electoral rolls will take place on October 1 this year and that 11 non-permanent residents were registered as voters in permanent resident column of electoral rolls.
A question was submitted by the legislator Ajatshatru Singh asking the government whether it is a fact that government has any information regarding non-state subjects figuring in the electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir.
The incharge minister for election while responding to the question stated that at present special summary revision of electoral rolls in underway and the final publication will take place on October 1, 2014.
The government stated district election officer Srinagar has reported that during current summary revision of electoral rolls, Booth Level Officer of 65 of 24 Sonawar constituency noticed seven non- permanent residents registered as voters in permanent residents of electoral roll. The government stated that the entries have been rectified and shifted to non- permanent section.
The minister stated further that district election officer Shopian has reported that four non-permanents were wrongly were wrongly included in the supplementary part of the roll.
The government stated that ERO has deleted the names from the PR section of the electoral roll.
