Srinagar: The government on Friday said that the Master Plans for Srinagar and Jammu 2012-2032 will be put to public domain in the near future for inviting suggestions and comments from general public .
According to reports correspondent, the government was responding to the question submitted by legislator Chaman Lal Gupta wherein he had asked the government about the new master plan for Jammu and Srinagar city.
The legislator had asked the government whether the MLAs and MLCs have been taken into confidence for preparing the plan. The government maintained that all the stake holders have been taken into confidence during the preparation of the master plan. It informed the house further that all stake holders including the departments are participating in review meetings and there are inter department committees to coordinate the same.
The government maintained further that the chief coordinators in this behalf are vice chairpersons of Jammu and Srinagar developmental authorities.
Interestingly, the draft Master Plan for Srinagar City prepared by the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) has proposed to reserve nearly 331 sq.kms of total area of citys 757 sq-kms for agricultural purposes, 80.32 sq kms for water bodies, 6.62 for forests respectively.
The proposed Master Plan mulls decentralization of population and activities through developing Satellite towns as Ganderbal (Education Town), Budgam (Commercial and Hotel Zone), Pampore (Transportation Hub), Khrew (Agro based Industrial Hub/agro-tourism), Zabarwan Range (Tourism Hub) respectively. Khrew area has been proposed to be reserved as special zone for cultivation of prized saffron which is famous world over for its unmatched quality.
