Srinagar: The Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Thursdaytermed the recent militant attacks and infiltration along Line of Control (LoC) as pressure tactics.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of CRPFs passing out parade in Humhama here, KS Bandari said: The intrusion by militants and recent attacks are pressure tactics but is their routine. Forces are alert and there is no need to worry.
On being asked about the recent incidents of weapon snatching, he said: These incidents take place because of security loopholes. Some mistakes do happen on the part of forces but if we remain alert and take extra security precautions, these incidents could be prevented.
The IG CRPF said there are apprehensions of surge in militant attacks ahead of polls. But all forces are alert. All precautions are being taken. No need to alarm, he said.
He said before winters, militants try to infiltrate in large numbers into this side. It is usual trend. May be there is increase this year. All forces are alert, he said, adding we are taking precautions.
The CRPF has been facing challenges. We will try to ensure peaceful polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the IG said. He added the situation is better in the state as compared to previous years. If you look at data, the situation is better. We will try to normalize and make situation even better, he said.
