SRINAGAR: The state authorities Friday approved Rs. 93.39 Crore plan for digitizing the land records of twelve districts of Kashmir province, a government handout said. The project, called Land Records Modernization Programme, will cover the remaining 10 districts in the second phase including the recently sanctioned administrative units. A separate fund of Rs. 90 has been earmarked for this phase. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 184 Crore.
The Programme envisages computerization of Land Records, creation of a state directorate, 9 regional directorates, 22 districts, 217 Tehsils, and 558 Niabat Data Centres. The inter-connectivity among 908 revenue officers is also being geared up and the survey/ re-Survey, updating of Land Records, establishing of 248 Modern Record Rooms and computerization of Registration is also afoot.
The official spokesman said the J&K State is already in the club of 5 states which are rated as success stories in computerization of Land Records/Survey/Re-Survey. The state was represented by DR Arun Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Revenue) J&K, A A Lateefuzaman Deva, Commissioner Survey and Land Records, J&K.
