SRINAGAR: Veteran Supreme Court lawyer and former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani Saturday held one hour detailed meet with the Huriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani at latters Srinagar residence- asking the senior separatist leader to soften his stand with the changing times.
Jethmalani who is at present on family tour to Kashmir Saturday visited the residence of Syed Ali Geelani and held a detailed meet of one hour duration.
Jethmalani according to the KNS discussed various issues pertaining to Kashmir with the Huriyat (G) chairman during which Geelani asked the learned lawyer to provide legal aid to the Kashmiri prisoners who are at present languishing in various jails of the capital. Geealni also stressed that various Kashmiris dont get the fair trail at New Delhi and measures must be taken to ensure that they are being provided the satisfactory legal services.
During the meet, Jethmalani asked the chairman of Huriyats hard-line faction that the stand must be soften as the circumstances have changed as compared to the past and there must be flexible approach so that Kashmir issue is addressed.
Geelani according to the reports has said to the former BJP leader that there would be no change in the principle stand of the Huriyat (G) and that there are some basic foundation of the Kashmir cause that cannot be undermined and ignored.
When contacted Huriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar confirmed Jethmalani meeting Geelani. Akbar told KNS that the Huriyat chairman has categorically stated to the former BJP leader that there will be no change in amalgams principle stand and that Modi is following the communal agenda in India. (KNS)
