SRINAGAR: The chemical report of the water that made more than 1000 people sick in Tregham on August 12, Saturday confirmed the contaminated content into it, prompting police to register case against the PHE department.
According to the KNS, CMO Kupwara Muneer Khwaja had earlier sent the samples of water for investigations as due to its consumption more than 1000 villagers had fallen sick.
On Saturday, the lab report confirmed that the water contained that contaminated content that could affect the human health.
Later Police station Trehgham registered case against the PHE department vide FIR number 64/2014 was filed with the investigations being carried under section 270,277 and also under 5/7 ESMA.
Reports informed that the locals had also submitted the written complaint against PHE department before the police authorities. SHO Trehgham Sajjad Assad confirmed that police has registered the case and the investigation have been initiated.
CMO Kupwara Dr Muneer Khwaja when contacted said that the people got infected due to the consumption of the contaminated water and that speedy measures are being taken by for their early treatment. He said that all the patients are now out of danger though some were earlier in the critical condition.
He added that the samples of the water have been collected for the further investigation and that the advisory has been issued to the locals that only boiled water be used for drinking. (KNS)
