Srinagar: While greeting Pakistan and its people on their independence day, APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has prayed for the economic and political stability of Pakistan.
In his greetings message, Mirwaiz stated that the political, moral and diplomatic support of Pakistan for Kashmiri people from past seven decades has always been a source of encouragement and of immense significance for the present struggle.
Mirwaiz stated that Pakistan has always remained politically active during the period of turmoil in Kashmir and has undertaken several efforts to solve the protracted Kashmir dispute- the core issue of confrontation between India and Pakistan. He stated that the time has come that Pakistani efforts in connection with solving Kashmir ould be responded by Govt. of India in a positive way.
Meanwhile the spokesman of APHC has condemned the new wave of arrests of Kashmiri youth from Srinagar and other parts of valley, the spokesman stated that such tactics were putting youth to psychological torture.
In several meetings with the Hurriyat leaders, the spokesman stated that the youth complained about the highhandedness of police while seizing their motorcycles. The youth told the Hurriyat leaders that number of two wheelers were illegally seized and put in police station just for ulterior motives.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Huriyat M spokesman stated that the senior leaders of the amalgam have been kept under house arrest ahead of August 15 including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Saleem Geelani and Zaffar Akbar Bhat.
