Srinagar: Coming down heavily on MLA Handwara and CAPD Minister Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Peoples Conference Handwara Assembly Constituency head Sheikh Aashiq Hussian Monday said that Block Presidents of ruling National Conference Ali Mohammad Bhat, Naseer Ahmad Daril, Mohammad Shafi Bhat Machipora and close relatives of Ramzan were involved in Ramhall PHE scam.
In a statement issued , Incharge District officer Khadi and Village Industries, a close relative of Chowdhary Ramzan is working as a contractor and the funds are transferred to his account through self help group.
Further investigation in projects in Dahama would reveal how money worth Rs two crore have been transferred to the account of the said official but the projects do not exist on ground, he added.
Hussain said another official Mohammad Amin Chowdhary, a class 4th employ and relative of Chowdhary Ramzan has been given the charge of a forester in the Forest Department in violation of norms. A vehicle with illegal timber was seized from the compound of Chowdhary Ramzan by the officials of the Forest Department ad is still lying with them. But surprisingly no action has been taken so far, the PC leader said.
In the PHE scam, he said, a local resident of Ramhall had lodged a complaint with office of Director General police who had directed the concerned SP to take necessary action. The SP directed the SHO concerned who deputed a Sub Inspector for the job. But during the investigations it was found that NC workers and close relatives of Chowdhary Ramzan were involved in the scam and the investigating officer was transferred and the case was hushed up, he concluded.
