SRINAGAR: Although Prime Minister Narindera Modi’s visit to Ladakh on Tuesday is likely to be limited to the inauguration of power projects and other development issues, the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party is readying itself for a “mission 44 campaign” to win the forthcoming poll.
A local news agency while quoting sources said that ahead of PM’s visit the poll strategy for Jammu and Kashmir was discussed in the Partys National council meeting in New Delhi and it was decided that the union ministers and party stalwarts will visit the state and address public meetings to seek votes for the party.
The visit of Union Ministers in Jammu region will be from next week which will be followed by Kashmir and Ladakh regions in the coming month to prepare ground for its victory in the assembly elections one of the senior BJP leader told a news agency here .

Keeping eye on the 44 seats from the state the party high command has also shortlisted some candidates for the Assembly elections in the State but their names were kept a top secret, sources said, adding the probable candidates have however been given the indication to go in their respective constituencies and start campaigning.
Sources said that the meeting further decided that special emphasis will be laid on remote regions, Muslim majority areas, SCs, STs, OBCs, farmers, border people and youth. The issue of unemployment of youth was specially focused on at the meeting and the ameliorative measures that could be taken to tackle their hardships and sufferings.

One of the top brass leader of the BJP said that the Party is eyeing to win 44+ seats in the State and it will concentrate to win all 25 Assembly seats in Jammu region on which the Party had maintained a lead in recently held Lok Sabha elections. There are 37 assembly seats in the Jammu region and we want to maximise our gains in this region. We plan to win at least 32-33 seats in this region itself. The other four seats BJP is targeting are Leh, Nobra, Zanskar and Kargil, he said
In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won Jammu, Ladakh and Udhampur seats, which comprise 41 assembly segments. Political analysts following the developments in the state say the BJP can improve its tally in the state elections if it is able to maintain the euphoria in favour of the party. But they predict that the ruling party will not be in a position to form a government in the state.
