Srinagar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Indo-Pak armies exchange fire that rattles R S Pura sector in Jammu region.
A senior BSF official accused Pakistani Rangers of violating ceasefire by attacking its posts at Arnia Sector.
At around 8.35pm last evening Pakistani Rangers opened heavy motor shelling at several Indian posts including Pittal Post, the official said. He said that the BSF men deployed in the area also retaliated resulting in the exchange of Indo-Pak armies fire.
He said that the exchange of fire fight was continued intermittently till 6 am today morning.
The official said during the Pak Rangers shelling, two BSF men sustained injuries, he said, adding that both the injured Suneel Kumar (41) son of Jahangbahudur Singh of UP and Bishnu Nandan Yaday (24) son of Bacha Radav of Jharkhand age 24 have been immediately shifted to GMC Jammu.
He said that two civilians Shans Rani Davi (43) and Rishu (22) of Shaujhu near the Arina area of R S Pura also got injured in the incident as the motor shells hit the several houses in the area. Both the civilians were shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
PM, Modi is scheduled to visit Leh on August 12 to dedicate to nation two Hydro Power Projects in Leh and Kargil, reports said. Besides, he would also lay foundation stone for the first power transmission line from Srinagar to Leh.
This would be second visit of PM Modi to Jammu and Kashmir after becoming Prime Minister of the country. During his first visit, he had inaugurated Udhampur-Katra railway line and Uri-II hydro-electric project in Baramulla district.
All the three power projects are very important for Ladakh region, also known as cold desert. The Srinagar-Leh transmission line would connect Ladakh with Northern Grid and solve the power crisis of the region.
