Pertinently, Police had booked the son of former government gunman Imtiyaz Ahmed Parray, who is also associated with Congress party, in the assault case following a complaint by the female doctor on Wednesday. The FIR (84/2014) had been lodged in police station Sumbal.
We are investigating the case thoroughly and today we have recorded the statements of witnesses. We will arrest the accused soon after we complete the investigation, a top police official said.
The outgoing Chief Medical Officer Bandipora G M Dar said that the matter is also being investigated by Ladies Grievance Cell while District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora who also probed the matter will submit its report on Sunday.

President Doctors Association of Kashmir, Dr Nisar-ul-Hasan while seeking immediate arrest of Congress politician said that the assault on lady doctor from a Congress politician proves that they dare to do this because they enjoy impunity. Fear of accountability forces a person to abide by law of land and when there is no accountability, how come we expect that politicians like Imtiyaz Parrey will refrain himself from violating the law, he said.
Meanwhile, the supporters of Congress leader Imtiyaz Parrey staged a protest in press enclave and demanded the transfer of lady doctor from Community Health Centre Hajin.
