Srinagar: Two senior government school officials on Friday alleged that they were abused and slapped by a senior police officer in Kreeri area of north Kashmirs Baramulla district. Police have ordered probe into the incident.
The vice-principal of Government Higher Secondary Institute Kreeri, Tanveer said that today morning at around 9:10 am, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP operations) Amir Iqbal entered into school premises along with a dozen of his men. The officer told Bashir Ahmad, an Urdu Lecturer that stones were coming from the school. But the Lecturer denied and said no one from the school pelted stones, the Vice-Principal said.
This fumed up the officer and he abused Bashir. He also slapped him without any reason, the senior official alleged, adding he also came on the spot and tried to save Bashir from officers wrath. But the officer also abused and slapped me for none of my fault, he said.
The schools vice-principal said they have lodged a complaint with police and demanded stern action against the officer.
The officer, however, strongly denied the allegations and said he didnt enter school premises. These are baseless allegations. I did not slap or abuse anyone, the DySp operations told reporters.
Meanwhile, the police have ordered probe into the incident. We have started investigations into the matter and Additional Superintendent of Police ASP Manzoor Ahmad has been appointed as enquiry officer, the Deputy Inspector General DIG of Police, North Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, said.
