From film director to Islamic preacher
Srinagar: Murcyleen Peerzada, a girl hailing from north Kashmirs Sopore area has quit her job of assistant director at Yash Raj Films (YRF) and dedicated her life to Islam, saying her priority would be to create awareness about true Islamic values.
Mursaleen , who has worked as an assistant director in Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger told KNS that she has dedicated her life for dawah and her priority from now on will be to introduce Kashmirs present generation girls to the true values of Islam and make them aware that it is the only religion that provides honor and dignity to the women folk.
Mursaleen is concerned about the growing trends of westernization among women in Kashmir and terms it ironic that with jeans and T-shirts; hijab is being used to cover the head. The immortality in Kashmir is growing and the Islamic concepts and values are being undermined. The basic reason for the Fitna is the emergence of western style in Muslim women, said Murcyleen who at present is pursuing her masters in Islamic studies from correspondence in Saudi Arabia.
Narrating how she transformed she said that she was born and brought up in Mumbai- the city of dreams. After completing her graduation, she asked her father to permit her to join the Bollywood. I was a complete westernized girl adopting the very style and the way of living. My father was a close friend of late Yash Chopra. He introduced me to him and I started working at Yash Raj Films as the assistant director. My first project was Salman Khan Starrer Ek Tha Tiger. Everyone had to admit my skills in the film making. Later on during the making of Jab Tak Hae Jaan, Yash Chopra passed away. That was the real shock for me as he was like my grandfather.
Mursaleen said that she was offered work in YRF under Manish Sharma. They crew tested me for film. I was asked to face the cameras but something somewhere in me rebuked my conscience. I stood in front of the lights like a dead one sans any expressions and understood that the city is hell bent upon exposing women at the worst. I left for my home and did nothing for a long. Later I got a book written by Dr Zakir Naik. The script changed me within. I told my father that I am joining IRF. I met wife of Dr Naik (Farhat Aapa). I joined the school and for six months, my dress and my lifestyle didnt change but later I started covering myself with Hijab. Life changed and I can now say with certainty that the glamorous life of films is no way a right choice for a women. Only Islam can give women regard, respect and status.
Asked how much better the Islamic way of life is than that of the bollywood- considered by many as life of dreams, she saidone thousand times. Islam is the best way of living; nothing would be its substitute.
