Srinagar: An Army soldier was killed and three others, including a lieutenant, sustained injures when a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in north Kashmirs Bandipora district on Thursday.
A senior army official said that an army Gypsy (No. 05B089584) while on way to Gurez from Bandipora skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Dragbal in the district.
The official said that four soldiers of 22 Raj Rifles under 109 and 28 Infantry Brigade sustained injuries in the accident, the official said, adding that all the injured were immediately shifted to district hospital Bandipora where one of the soldiers identified as Rifleman Ram Niwas (belt no. 16018018 W) succumbed to injuries.
The other three injured were identified as Lieutenant Vijay Shanker Yadav (belt no. SS46916N), Naik Sanwar Mal Godara (belt no. 2896342W) and Anand Kumar (16013932N) and were referred to Armys 92 Base Hospital here in Srinagar for specialized treatment.
