SRINAGAR : Ruling National Conference is yet to decide the Assembly segment from where Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would contest the forthcoming Assembly elections, a senior party leader said on Thursday.
We have not yet finalized where from Omar Abdullah sahib will contest the elections, NC leader and state finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Indicating that Omar would be given a constituency of his choice, Rather said the party would not dictate terms to its working president. We cannot tell him where from to contest. At best, we can request him, he added.
National Conference, which last month decided to go alone in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year, has so far announced 46 candidates for constituencies but has not named a candidate for Omars present segment Ganderbal.
Rather said the party was going through the process of selecting candidates for the remaining constituencies and the list will be made public in due course of time.
