Baramulla: A day after a Palhallan youth was found dead in a residential house at Kreei here in north Kashmir district, the parts of the district observed a complete shutdown against his death.
The first year student, Mudasir Ahmad Sofi, who, according to police, was behind rifle snatching incident at Pattan last week, was found dead in a residential house at Suraipora village. Police said the youth was a militant and his body was found after they heard a few gunshots when there was cordon in the village.
The police said they recovered the snatched rifle and a few cartridges near his body and they are investigating how he died. But a local police officer had said he died after the bullets from the INSAS rifle hit his abdomen.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown amid clashes was observed in Pattan, Palhallan and Kreer.
Eyewitnesses said that all the shops and business establishments were shut in these areas and there were protests and clashes at Palhallan, the youths native village.
The locals of Palhallan had alleged that the youth was killed in government forces custody.
